Hong Kong and Significant Controllers Register; similar registers in Singapore and the UK

A so-called Significant Controllers Register (SCR), somewhat comparable to the UK and Singaporean system, was introduced recently.

In relation to SCR, information about legal entities and individuals with significant control (normally parent companies and UBO’s) over the Hong Kong entity need to be provided.

The SCR is to be kept in Hong Kong, e.g. at the company’s registered office; upon request, certain law enforcement officers will have to be given access to the register. Singapore knows a similar (information not publicly available) principle, while in the UK SCR similar details are publicly available.
